Websites for your trade

Websites for doctors and GP practices

We build websites for South African GPs and family practices that make booking easy, state your hours and medical aid arrangements plainly, and tell patients to call 10177 in an emergency, right on the booking form.

What patients look for first

Someone looking for a doctor usually wants four answers, fast. Are you open? Can I be seen soon? Do you take my medical aid? Where are your rooms? They may be worried or unwell, so they will not dig. Your site puts those answers first, in the words patients use: the rooms, reception, medical aid, script, sick note.

Many patients search for the service rather than the practice: a flu vaccine, a driver's licence medical, a Pap smear. Each service you offer gets its own page, titled with the service and your town.

See two practice websites working

Winelands Family Practice and Riverside Family Clinic are fictional practices we made to show the doctor pack on two templates. Their doctors, numbers and reviews are example content.

Pages for the care you offer

We start from the services family practices in South Africa offer most, and keep only the ones your practice provides:

  • General consultations
  • Chronic condition care
  • Children's health
  • Women's health
  • Minor procedures
  • Vaccinations and flu shots
  • Medicals and certificates
  • Screening and blood tests

Credentials and claims, handled carefully

Your site can show each of these, once the practice supplies them:

  • HPCSA registered
  • Board of Healthcare Funders practice number
  • Medical aid claims accepted
  • Same-day appointments
  • Years in practice

Each doctor named on the site can carry their HPCSA registration number, and the practice number medical aids claim against. We list only the medical aid schemes you confirm, and mention same-day appointments only if you keep urgent slots open. We never describe a GP as a specialist, promise results or call a procedure painless.

Booking the way your practice works

If you use an online booking diary, its link becomes the main button on every page, and your practice can go live without WhatsApp at all. If patients book by phone or WhatsApp, those buttons sit on every page, and a booking request form waits on the contact page.

A booking form that asks the right questions

Your booking request form asks:

When do you need to be seen?

  • Today if possible
  • This week
  • Routine, any time
  • Just a question for now

Who is the appointment for?

  • Myself
  • My child
  • Another adult
  • New patient to the practice

On the form: For a medical emergency call 10177, or 112 from a cellphone, or go to the nearest emergency unit. This form is for bookings and questions and is read during rooms hours.

Each request arrives by email with the patient's name and number, ready for reception to confirm a slot.

Your team, and your patients' privacy

Your About page can introduce each doctor and staff member by name and role, and the Lumen template gives the doctor's portrait pride of place on the home page. We never put patient stories with health details or photos of real patients on your site, and its POPIA privacy page explains how enquiries sent through the site are handled.

Questions about a website for doctors and GP practices

Can patients book online?

Yes, if you use an online booking diary: its link becomes the main button on every page. Without one, patients call or send a booking request through the form on your contact page.

Does our practice need WhatsApp?

No. A practice that takes bookings through an online diary can go live without WhatsApp. If you do use WhatsApp for bookings, the button appears on every page.

Will the site list the medical aids we accept?

Only the schemes you confirm, in the words you use, such as whether you claim from them directly.

Can our HPCSA numbers be on the site?

Yes. Each doctor named on the site can carry their HPCSA registration number, shown only once they have sent it to us.
